Cameras: Sony a330 and Sony a550
Flash: Sony HVLF20AM TTL Digital Flash for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras Entry level flash, worthwhile upgrade from the pop-up flash with the camera. The indirect, or bouncing of the flash, makes pictures much better.
Lenses: I have the kit lenses but have replaced most with Tamron alternatives and still evaluating a Sigma lens.
Sony 50mm f/1.8 DT |
This was a cheap way to look at a “prime” fixed lens. So far I have only looked at macro capabilities. Rather small when attached to camera, focus motor is loud but snappy. |
Tamron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di-II LD SP ZL Aspherical |
Having had luck with Tamron lenses I picked this up with intentions of it being my every day lens. Performs well but since I am hooked on macro photography this one isn’t working out for me. |
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 SLD Aspherical DC Optical Stabilized (OS) Lens with Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for Sony Digital SLR Cameras |
Curious of the difference between Sigma and Tamron I bought this to check for applicability to the every day lens. I have found the focus is not fast or even accurate. I have to give it high marks for construction. I bounced this lens off a concrete floor. Expecting it to be destroyed, I mounted it and the lens operated with no noticeable to mechanical or image issues. |
Tamron AF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD |
This lens is my favorite so far. I was pleasantly surprise that it included a macro capability. Written right on the lens body is “Tele-Macro” |
